Just down the road from the Lost Horse is the Bitterroot river, home to 93 miles of some of the best flyfishing Montana has to offer. Several varieties of trout, including the Rainbow, Brown and West Slope Cutthroat fill the clear waters of the Bitterroot. The Flyfishing season unofficially starts in early Spring with many 20" and larger fish being caught.

Let the Lost Horse arrange for fishing guides and outfitters for your Montana vacation, including John Foust, master fly tyer and fly fishing expert for the movie "A River Runs Through It". John has guided for over 28 years. Born and raised in the Bitterroot valley he has fished here for most of his life and is an inexhaustible source for flyfishing information in Montana.

A short walk from your log cabin takes you to fishing along the Lost Horse Creek and nearby lakes. The Lost Horse Creek feeds into the Bitterroot River and is home to cutthroat and brook trout that can be found among the many pools and beautiful scenery of the creek that gives the lodge its name.
